A Brief History
The Painful Cure was one of the first web sites created on the net. First published in 1908, it gave Willy Whicker (Dicky's great grand father) a place to lodge his observations on the zeitgeist of the day and a home for some of the most cutting edge journalism of its time. Sadly following a power cut in December 2007 and subsequent gross incompetence all of the archives got wiped from the server. The person responsible has since been re-introduced to the job market. We are working hard to build the archive with new and exciting material as quickly as possible, but as I am sure you are aware, quality content cannot be rushed. There was a rumour flying around that some of the authors on The Painful Cure were being considered for the Nobel peace prize. Rather unfairly, this came to a very quick end when the judges looked at the site and realised that, in their own words; "these people are clearly a bunch of cunts". We remain hopeful that they will change their minds next year.
